Effort To Boot Pa. Jury Commissioners Re-Emerges

Law360, Philadelphia (April 10, 2013, 3:55 PM EDT) -- Two bills seeking to resurrect a provision giving county commissioners the option of eliminating the office of jury commissioner are moving through the Pennsylvania General Assembly, after the state’s Supreme Court invalidated an earlier law in March.

On Tuesday, a bill introduced last week by Sen. Lloyd Smucker, R-Lancaster/York, passed out of the Senate’s Local Government Committee, and on Wednesday, Rep. RoseMarie Swanger, R-Lebanon, announced her own legislation seeking to reinstate the law in the state House.
