Senate Confirms Jewell As Interior Secretary

Law360, Chicago (April 10, 2013, 7:55 PM EDT) -- Recreational Equipment Inc. CEO Sally Jewell won approval from the full U.S. Senate to be the next secretary of U.S. Department of the Interior on Wednesday, following endorsements by President Barack Obama and the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The Senate confirmed Jewell's nomination by a vote of 87 to 11, with those opposed all coming from the Republican Party. That group included Sens. Mitch McConnell, R-Ken; Marco Rubio, R-Fla; and John Barrasso, R-Wyo.
