Jury Rules For TriStrata in Patent Suit v. Valeant

Law360 (November 25, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- A jury in the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware found that Valeant Pharmaceuticals International willfully infringed on seven claims of the two patents at issue in a lawsuit brought by rival TriStrata Technology.

The jury verdict of willful infringement allows for the damages to be multiplied up to three times.

TriStrata said it would ask the court to declare the case "exceptional" and thus make it eligible for an award of attorneys' fees.
