Imerys Scoops Up PyraMax In $235M Deal

Law360, New York (April 11, 2013, 8:12 PM EDT) -- Paris-based mineral processor Imerys SA said Thursday that it had acquired PyraMax Ceramics LLC for $235 million from energy growth equity firm CSL Capital Management LLC, a deal that will significantly expand Imerys’ U.S. reach in fracking material production.

Included in the deal is the Texas-based manufacturer's nearly completed Georgia facility, which will produce up to 500 pounds of ceramic proppant — a material used in hydraulic fracturing to prop open rock layers — per year by 2014, Imerys said in a statement. This will be...
