ITC To Reopen Settled Fluorescent Lights IP Claims

Law360, New York (April 12, 2013, 3:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Wednesday it would investigate MaxLite Inc.'s claim that a recent parallel court ruling should water down a binding settlement order barring the importation of patent-protected dimmable compact fluorescent lights.

The probe will look into whether Maxlite, in light of the federal district court decision, can now import dimmers covered by a Neptun Light Inc. patent — even though the two companies signed a settlement agreement barring Maxlite from doing so.
