BlackBerry Seeks SEC Probe Of Report Criticizing New Phone

Law360, New York (April 12, 2013, 6:56 PM EDT) -- BlackBerry, formerly known as Research In Motion Ltd., said Friday it would ask U.S. and Canadian securities regulators to look into a report issued by brokerage Detwiler Fenton & Co. that the company's new Z10 phones are being returned at a highly unusual pace.

The smartphone maker derided what it called the “false and misleading” report, saying sales of the Z10 were meeting expectations and that data it collected from retailers and carriers showed customers were satisfied with the devices.
