Prosecutor Seeks Prison For Convicted Pa. Justice

Law360, Philadelphia (April 15, 2013, 5:46 PM EDT) -- Convicted Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin should serve extensive time in prison for using her judicial staff to work on her political campaigns, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office said in a filing Monday.

Assistant District Attorney Lawrence Claus argued that Justice Melvin’s actions violated the public trust and that as a result, they warranted a sentence in the aggravated range. He called on Judge Lester Nauhaus to impose consecutive prison sentences on the justice.
