What "Lundgren" Means To Business Method Patents

Law360 (October 21, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ex parte Lundgren, Appeal No. 2003-2088 (BPAI 2005) removed the technological arts requirement of the Patent Office. Applications for patents on business methods and business systems have been treated a little differently than other types of patent applications by the Patent Office. This decision by the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences removes one of the special obstacles that the Patent Office created for patenting business methods and systems.
