Washer Woes Stem From Misuse, Whirlpool Asserts

Law360, New York (January 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Whirlpool Corp. is aggressively defending itself in a putative class action lawsuit brought by a group of consumers who claim the company’s Maytag Brand front-loading washing machine is defective, arguing that any damages were caused by the plaintiffs’ improper use of the product.

In court documents filed Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, Whirlpool and its co-defendants Maytag Corp. and Maytag Sales Inc. said it “specifically and expressly” denied each and every allegation in the plaintiffs’ complaint.
