Dickie Scruggs Back To Prison After Flopped 5th Circ. Appeal

Law360, New York (April 16, 2013, 5:11 PM EDT) -- A Mississippi federal judge on Tuesday allowed disgraced anti-tobacco attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs to resume his seven-year prison sentence after the Fifth Circuit declined to exonerate him in his corruption scheme with Mississippi Judge Bobby DeLaughter.

In light of the Fifth Circuit’s decision not to vacate his sentence and to uphold Scruggs’s conviction, Scruggs had sought Monday to return to serving his sentence, according to his motion filed Monday in Mississippi federal court.
