EPA Unveils New Vapor Pollution Draft Guidance

Law360, New York (April 17, 2013, 4:29 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday released a pair of lengthy draft guidance documents for addressing vapor pollution from contaminated groundwater and soil into neighboring structures, seeking public comment as it works to develop updated waste management guidelines.

The new policy would replace guidance that was released for public comment in 2002 but never finalized, incorporating updated toxicity values, new measures for determining when preemptive action is appropriate, and recommendations for the operation and maintenance of mitigation systems.
