India Raises Trade Concerns Over US Green Energy Programs

Law360, New York (April 17, 2013, 6:42 PM EDT) -- India filed a request with the World Trade Organization on Wednesday asking the U.S. to explain whether federal, state and local programs for incentivizing renewable energy production are consistent with the world body's rules.

The request said some American inducements for green energy production, like tax credits, were only available to companies that use domestic products, which India said “raises concerns” that the rules ran afoul of the WTO's ban on so-called local content requirements.
