Supreme Court Picks Up Line In Pay-Phone Fee Case

Law360 (January 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The nation’s highest court agreed on Friday to hear an appeal by Sprint Communications Co. and AT&T Corp. in a legal battle over whether third-party companies hired by pay phone operators to collect compensation for coinless long-distance calls can sue phone companies over the amount of fees.

The U.S. Supreme Court granted the telecommunications companies’ petition for a writ of certiorari, The petitioners’ brief must be filed by Feb. 14. The respondents must file their brief by March 12.
