Latham & Watkins Hit With $11M Pregnancy Bias Suit

Law360, New York (April 22, 2013, 7:32 PM EDT) -- A former Latham & Watkins LLP legal secretary slapped the firm with an $11 million pregnancy discrimination suit in Washington, D.C., on Monday, claiming that the firm unlawfully fired her after pregnancy-related medical problems kept her away from work for too long. 

Demetria Peart, who said she worked for Latham from April 2007 through the beginning of 2008, accused the firm of violating the federal Pregnancy Discrimination Act, intentional infliction of emotional distress and running afoul of the District of Columbia Human Rights Act.
