Nokia's Block On Microphone Sales Could Stymie HTC One

Law360, Los Angeles (April 22, 2013, 10:50 PM EDT) -- A Dutch district court on Monday awarded Nokia Oyj a preliminary injunction against a microphone components manufacturer that broke an exclusivity agreement by selling smartphone microphones to HTC Corp., potentially disrupting HTC's plans for its much-touted HTC One device, Nokia said Tuesday.

The ruling means that chipmaker STMicroelectronics NV won't be able to sell the high-dynamic-range microphone components, which Nokia says it invented, to HTC for nearly a year. HTC is using the components for its iPhone-competing HTC One smartphones.
