Graham Blocks Vote On DOE Nominee Over Nuclear Waste Site

Law360, New York (April 23, 2013, 6:04 PM EDT) -- South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday blocked Congress from voting on the nominee to head the U.S. Department of Energy because of concerns about a nuclear waste disposal facility in his home state.

The Republican senator  placed a procedural hold on physics professor Ernest Moniz less than a week after the White House's pick to head the DOE sailed through the Energy and Natural Resources Committee by a 21-1 vote and seemed poised for a quick approval from the full U.S. Senate.
