UK Watchdog Wary Of BlackRock-Credit Suisse Unit Merger

Law360, New York (April 24, 2013, 2:59 PM EDT) -- U.K. competition authorities are taking a look at BlackRock Inc.'s plan to purchase Credit Suisse AG's exchange-traded funds business, the country's antitrust agency said Wednesday.

The U.K. Office of Fair Trading is reviewing the deal, which BlackRock and Credit Suisse announced in January, and will accept public comments regarding the transaction until, the OFT said in a notice on its website. The watchdog has a provisional May 22 deadline to complete its investigation of the deal, though the office could push that date back.
