Inventor Infringed Own Patent, Federal Circuit Rules

Law360 (October 27, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An inventor who left his company to join a direct competitor helped infringe a patent originally issued to him, according to a decision Wednesday by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Dane Industries Inc. sued Ameritek Industries LLC in June 2003, alleging Ameritec’s “Golden Retriever” shopping cart collector infringed two of its patents. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
