Pa. Rep. Plans Bills Aiding Landowners In Fracking Leases

Law360, Philadelphia (April 25, 2013, 5:17 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania Democratic state representative announced Wednesday that he intended to introduce two pieces of legislation aimed at protecting property owners who lease the fracking rights to their land, according to co-sponsorship memos.

Rep. Jesse White, D-Allegheny, said that he would put forward a bill setting informational requirements for the stubs of leaseholders’ royalty checks and a separate bill that would require all gas and oil leases to include language releasing the portion of the land covered by a lease but not subject to drilling activity...
