Fla. Senate Greenlights Changes To Nuclear Cost Law

Law360, Miami (April 26, 2013, 7:11 PM EDT) -- The Florida Senate voted unanimously Friday to amend the controversial Nuclear Cost Recovery Act, adding protections for consumers and benchmarks aimed at greater transparency and accountability from public utilities in the state.

The changes would come through S.B. 1472, sponsored by Sen. John Legg, R-Lutz. The state legislature's efforts also include H.B. 7167, currently awaiting a second reading by the House, and the law is facing a legal challenge in the Florida Supreme Court brought by several petitioners, including the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy....
