Hedge Funds Led Shareholder Activism In '07: Study

Law360, New York (January 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Shareholder activism continued to grow in 2007, with more United States-based hedge funds and institutional investors pushing companies’ management to take action to increase stock values, according to a report released Monday.

Last year 501 activist and other campaigns for corporate control were announced, up from 429 campaigns in 2006, according to a report by FactSet SharkWatch, which tracks activist campaigns and takeover defenses of companies.
