Ex-Westar Exec Demands Docs About Gov't Case

Law360, New York (January 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A former Westar Energy Inc. executive awaiting a retrial on charges that he looted the company is trying to figure out if his former employer helped the government in the case to escape prosecution itself.

In a motion filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, attorneys for Douglas T. Lake asked the court to issue subpoenas for documents from attorneys with Lankler Siffert & Wohl LLP. The firm served as criminal attorneys for Westar, the motion said.
