NJ High Court Considers Fee Question For Pro Se Attys

Law360, New York (April 30, 2013, 2:20 PM EDT) -- A law firm shouldn't be able to collect attorneys' fees for representing itself in a collection suit against a former client, counsel for a man battling a $305,058 judgment for Kern Augustine Conroy & Schoppmann PC argued Tuesday before the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Representing Lawrence, N.J., resident E. Bruce DiDonato, attorney Glenn R. Cochran framed attorneys' ability to collect fees in such instances as an Equal Protection Clause issue. Lawyers have been singled out for preferential treatment, he contended.
