Sens. Suggest WTO Challenge To EU Ethanol Duties

Law360, New York (April 30, 2013, 3:13 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Trade Representative should consider filing a challenge with the World Trade Organization against the European Commission’s recently imposed anti-dumping duties on ethanol from the U.S., according to a letter that a group of 14 U.S. senators sent the USTR on Monday.

The lawmakers accused the commission of taking the "unprecedented" step of leveling tariffs against every ethanol producer in the U.S., rather than targeting specific alleged offenders and tailoring the duties based on their pricing. The senators also alleged that the commission had imposed...
