Insurers Get More Time To Apply For Health Exchanges

Law360, New York (April 30, 2013, 4:17 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration Tuesday gave insurers three extra days to submit applications to sell policies on Affordable Care Act health insurance exchanges debuting later this year, a bow to industry voices calling for more time.

The move pushes back to Friday the deadline for insurance companies to seek permission to participate in the 26 exchanges being operated by the federal government. It doesn’t apply to exchanges being run by states or to state-federal partnership exchanges; states are responsible for setting deadlines for those marketplaces.
