Fla. House Dems Stand Firm In Health Care Filibuster

Law360, Miami (May 1, 2013, 6:00 PM EDT) -- Florida House Democrats continued to stall the legislative session Wednesday in hopes that the chamber's Republican majority will reconsider its opposition to a Senate plan to use $50 billion in federal funding to expand health care coverage for low-income Floridians.

In addition to requesting that each bill on the House floor be read aloud — a tactic begun Tuesday by the Democratic Caucus — Democratic legislators also brought up the health care expansion in debates following each bill, no matter how unrelated.
