GOP Lawmakers Release Medicaid Reform Plan

Law360, New York (May 1, 2013, 9:05 PM EDT) -- A pair of senior Republican lawmakers on Wednesday released a plan to reform the Medicaid program by putting more control in state hands, saying such a change would reduce costs while improving flexibility for states and outcomes for beneficiaries.

The blueprint, titled “Making Medicaid Work,” would allow states to overhaul their Medicaid systems by removing several federal barriers to innovation, while putting spending caps in place for each type of Medicaid beneficiary, providing cost predictability, according to the plan’s authors, Rep.
