Feds Will Appeal Ruling On Morning-After Pill

Law360, Los Angeles (May 1, 2013, 9:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice on Wednesday said it would ask the Second Circuit to overturn a federal court order directing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to provide emergency contraception without a prescription to girls and women of all ages.

The DOJ seeks to overturn an April 5 order in which a New York federal judge ruled that the FDA must make the contraceptive Plan B available without a prescription and without point-of-sale or age restrictions within 30 days. The ruling was in response to...
