House Republicans To Push For SEC Cost-Benefit Analyses

Law360, New York (May 6, 2013, 1:17 PM EDT) -- House Republicans will push for new legislation next session calling on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to use cost-benefit analyses before implementing new rules, according to a memorandum penned by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va.

Cantor told House Republicans on Friday that he would push for passage of The SEC Regulatory Accountability Act, which would direct to SEC to specify the problem it's addressing and obtain an economic analysis by the agency’s chief economist when considering new rules.
