Canada Can't Beat WTO Ruling Against Green Energy Policies

Law360, New York (May 6, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- A World Trade Organization appeals panel on Monday affirmed a ruling that Canada had violated its international obligations by offering green energy incentives that included domestic content requirements.

The WTO's Appellate Body affirmed most of a December ruling that found Ontario had discriminated against foreign manufacturers by premising access to green energy subsidies for developers on their use of Canadian-built equipment.
