UK Antitrust Chief Vows Not To Back Off IP Enforcement

Law360, New York (May 7, 2013, 8:17 PM EDT) -- Though U.K.'s Office of Fair Trading sees competition and intellectual property law as complementary, the agency won't hesitate to challenge the anti-competitive use or acquisition of IP rights, the agency's chief cautioned Tuesday.

OFT Chief Executive Clive Maxwell further vowed that the agency would not sit passively by if it has reason to believe that companies were using their IP rights in an anti-competitive way.
