US Aims For Talks On Bahrain Worker Conditions

Law360, New York (May 7, 2013, 5:43 PM EDT) -- The U.S. lodged a complaint Tuesday under its bilateral free trade agreement with Bahrain alleging the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom hasn't done enough to address labor problems that arose during the the 2011 Arab Spring demonstrations.

U.S. trade and labor officials said they had asked for consultations with Bahrain following a December research report detailing union repression, workplace discrimination based on religious and political views and insufficiently protective laws in the island nation.
