Nokia Urges Against Bright-Line Limits On SEP Injunctions

Law360, New York (May 8, 2013, 9:16 PM EDT) -- Nokia Corp. on Monday stepped into a patent dispute between Apple Inc. and Motorola Mobility LLC, saying a trial court decision limiting injunctive relief for owners of standard-essential patents will inhibit patent holders from obtaining fair compensation from licensees.

Nokia told the Federal Circuit that in reviewing Motorola's appeal of the dismissal of its infringement claims against Apple, the court should reject the “bright-line rule” of Seventh Circuit Judge Richard Posner, who, sitting by designation in district court, found in June that neither Motorola nor Apple...
