Lawmakers Clamor For FDA Action On Arsenic In Juice

Law360, New York (May 8, 2013, 7:58 PM EDT) -- A pair of House lawmakers pressured the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday to release an industry guidance document setting voluntary standards for arsenic levels in fruit juice, citing concerns from a 2012 study revealing high amounts of the toxin in apple and grape beverages.

Reps. Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., and Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., penned a letter to the FDA's Deputy Administrator Dominic Mancini calling for the agency to release the guidance, which is currently being reviewed by the Office of Management and Budget....
