EU Vows To Keep Close Eye On “Frankenfoods”

Law360, New York (January 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Days after the European Food Safety Authority deemed meat and milk derived from cloned animals safe for human consumption, the European Commission on Monday said it would carefully consider public concerns over so-called Frankenfoods before rendering a formal opinion on the issue.

The EFSA’s draft report on the implications of animal cloning on food safety, animal health and welfare and the environment, released Friday, found no evidence of harm from cloned-animal products.
