Wal-Mart Settles Suit Before High Court Showdown

Law360, New York (January 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has avoided Supreme Court scrutiny of its anti-discrimination policies by settling a lawsuit with a disabled worker just months before the justices were due to consider the case.

The U.S. Supreme Court was set to hear oral argument in the case this spring, but lawyers for employee Pam Huber withdrew their appeal after reaching a settlement on Friday.
