Fla. County Argues For Revival Of Hotel Tax Fight Suit

Law360, Miami (May 16, 2013, 7:43 PM EDT) -- A Florida county on Thursday asked a state appeals court to reverse a summary judgment ruling that dismissed its suit against online travel companies, including Expedia Inc. and Orbitz LLC, and the Florida Department of Revenue for failing to collect state hotel occupancy taxes.

Attorneys for Leon County, Fla., urged the First District Court of Appeal to reverse the trial court's ruling that declared the county did not have standing to seek to recover proceeds from the state's 1949 Transient Rentals Tax.
