EU Allows Aluminum Joint Venture, With Concessions

Law360, New York (May 14, 2013, 4:19 PM EDT) -- Europe's competition watchdog on Monday approved a joint venture between two Norwegian companies in the aluminum extrusion market after they agreed to sell off some assets, including operations in the Netherlands and a soft-alloy extrusions plant in Norway.

Following an antitrust review, the European Commission cleared a deal struck by Norsk Hydro ASA and Orkla ASA subsidiary Sapa Holding AB to create a joint venture expected to become the world's leading aluminum extrusions provider and take in about €6 billion ($7.8 billion) in annual revenues, the...
