Fla.-Owned Insurer's Shutdown Of Ethics Office OK'd

Law360, Miami (May 14, 2013, 10:27 PM EDT) -- Florida Chief Inspector General Melinda Miguel reported Tuesday that she did not find evidence of retaliation in state-owned insurer Citizens Property Insurance Corp.'s decision to disband its Office of Corporate Integrity shortly after it conducted investigations into misconduct at Citizens.

Gov. Rick Scott had requested Miguel to review the firings of the OCI's four staff members, which they said came without warning a few months after they had conducted internal investigations of reports of mismanagement and other problems, according to Miguel.
