Aussie Enviro Official OKs Aquila Iron Ore Port Project

Law360, New York (May 16, 2013, 2:55 PM EDT) -- Australia's environment chief on Thursday approved a blockbuster iron ore port project by Aquila Resources Ltd. and a U.S.-based coal company, subject to 45 specific conditions to preserve the area.

Environment Minister Tony Burke said the project will allow Aquila and American Metals & Coal International Inc. to process and export iron ore from the nearby AU$7.4 billion ($7.28 billion) West Pilbara development, which is expected to produce up to 115 million tons of raw material a year upon completion.
