Senate Confirms Moniz As Energy Secretary

Law360, New York (May 16, 2013, 6:30 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly confirmed Massachusetts Institute of Technology physicist Ernest Moniz as the new energy secretary, with not a single senator casting a dissenting vote.

The Senate voted 97-0 to confirm Moniz, a former Energy Department official who currently heads the MIT Energy Initiative and serves on President Barack Obama's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He replaces Steven Chu, who stepped down last month.
