Kohler Ordered To Pay $9.6M In Generator Patent Trial

Law360, New York (May 17, 2013, 6:24 PM EDT) -- A Massachusetts federal jury on Wednesday ordered Kohler Co. to pay $9.6 million in damages after finding the company's marine power generators include patent-infringing exhaust systems designed to reduce emissions.

The jury found by clear and convincing evidence that Kohler had willfully infringed two patents held by WBIP LLC. The accused products include Kohler Low Carbon Monoxide Generator Sets, which are used to power private boats and reduce boaters' exposure to carbon monoxide.
