Scrabble Copyright Holders Attack Scrabulous

Law360, New York (January 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Fans of the online word-game Scrabulous suddenly have more to worry about than placing their q's without u's.

The game, a hit application on Facebook, has become the subject of a copyright dispute that could result in its removal from the social networking site.

The world's first- and second-largest toy companies, Mattel Inc. and Hasbro Inc., own the rights to Scrabble and reportedly told Facebook that Scrabulous infringes their copyright. They reportedly asked for the the application to be taken down.
