Sierra Club To Sue Oregon Coal-Fired Power Plant

Law360, New York (January 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A coalition of environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, said Wednesday it intends to sue energy provider Portland General Electric to force the company to cut down on pollution from a coal-fired power plant in Eastern Oregon.

The suit's aim, according to the coalition, is to force Oregon's largest utility to install emission controls as required by federal law, thus fulfilling its obligations under the Clear Air Act.
