6th Circ. Says $1.4M Atty Fee In Software IP Row Was Proper

Law360, Los Angeles (May 23, 2013, 4:23 PM EDT) -- The Sixth Circuit on Thursday affirmed a $1.4 million attorneys' fee award for a lawyer who represented Infocon Systems Inc. in a software-licensing dispute with Exact Software North America Inc., saying the lower court correctly exercised its jurisdiction over the matter.

The fight over the fees arose from a $4 million settlement Kentucky-based Infocon obtained in its software-licensing dispute with Exact in 2007, just after firing attorney J. Fox DeMoisey. Infocon eventually sued DeMoisey for malpractice, but that lawsuit was dismissed, and a lower court ruled...
