EU To Seek Investment Pact With China

Law360, New York (May 23, 2013, 5:27 PM EDT) -- The European Union said Thursday it would seek the permission of its 27 member states to negotiate a bilateral investment treaty with China — a trading partner Europe frequently has sparred with in recent years.

The deal would seek to improve the protection of European investments in China — for one, by improving legal certainty for foreign investors — and to increase investment flows by reducing barriers in both markets, the EU said.
