Deloitte Says US-China Pact Resolves SEC Audit Case

Law360, New York (May 28, 2013, 3:48 PM EDT) -- Chinese audit documents sought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in a suit against Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu CPA Ltd. may be obtained through a recent agreement between U.S. and Chinese regulators, Deloitte told a Washington federal judge Tuesday.

The SEC sued Deloitte in Sept. 2011 to enforce a subpoena related to the firm’s audit of Longtop Financial Technologies Ltd., a Chinese technology company suspected of fraud. Deloitte has so far resisted turning over audit documents, saying it may violate Chinese laws.
