Arthur Andersen To Fight For Acquital In Obstruction Case

Law360, New York (November 9, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal appeals court has asked attorneys in Arthur Andersen LLP’s obstruction of justice lawsuit to submit court papers on whether to return the case to the district judge or toss it out in light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s conviction reversal.

Although a retrial remains an option, former “Big Five” accounting firm Arthur Andersen will ask the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to order district judge Melinda Harmon to acquit the firm and close the case in its papers, which are due in January....
