Pfizer Updates Chantix Label To Cite Possible Risks

Law360, New York (January 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In the wake of alarming reports over Chantix, Pfizer Inc. has decided to update the label for its popular stop-smoking aid amid concerns that the drug increases depression and suicidal behavior in users of the medication.

On Friday, Pfizer revealed that it had decided to revise the safety notice accompanying Chantix as both the European Union's medicine watchdog and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration continue to investigate the rumors.
