Enviros Challenge XTO's Permits For Pa. Gas Facilities

Law360, Philadelphia (May 31, 2013, 4:42 PM EDT) -- In appeals launched Wednesday with the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board, a Pittsburgh-based environmental group said that emissions permits issued to Exxon Mobil Corp. subsidiary XTO Energy Inc. for a pair of natural gas compressor stations severely underestimated the facilities’ potential for air pollution.

The Group Against Smog and Pollution said in the appeals that compressor stations that XTO hopes to build in Butler County should be considered major sources of pollution requiring more stringent emissions-control measures by the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.
